Our Goals are Very Simple
We provide a safe, educational, and an enjoyable outdoor eco-experience. We combine kayaking skills, offer kayak instruction, teach environmental awareness, and have lots of fun. We explore the fascinating Washington and Puget Sound coastal, island, and estuary ecosystems. These are best appreciated from the cockpit of a quiet, human powered sea kayak.
Instruction
Connie Campbell, a certified A.C.A (American Canoe Association) kayak instructor, offers personalized kayak instruction in single kayaks - Seaward and Eddyline - Connie teaches from a Nigel Foster Shadow, built by Seaward kayaks. She will help aspiring kayakers improve their skills. Contact Connie to set up your personalized lesson for your self or a small group.
A Range of Tours
Aqua Trek leads a range eco kayaking tours, including single day, weekend and overnight trips in the San Juan Islands, base camp and expedition style, multi-day adventures. We design custom adventures based upon your groups' interests, experience, time frame, and objectives. Each tour is unique because of tides, currents, weather, season, wildlife observed - often Orcas and whales, birds, and the participants.
Equipment / Outfitting
We provide some of the finest equipment available including very comfortable and stable Eddyline double kayaks. Experienced kayakers may request single kayaks - Seaward and Eddyline - on selected regular tours and most custom adventures. Between uses, our quality equipment is cleaned, inspected, and replaced as needed.
Safety, Experience, Fitness, and Fun
Our tours begin with a thorough equipment and safety orientation and we provide take-home checklists. No previous sea kayaking experience is necessary for our regularly scheduled tours. Anyone in average physical condition should have little problem sea kayaking. Our tours are designed to be fun, not strenuous, so we pace ourselves to enjoy nature.
Friendly, Knowledgeable, and Well Trained Guides
Aqua Trek guides are selected for their personalities and a desire to increase the information pool that we share with our guests. We encourage questions and discuss kayaking skills, water conditions, birds, wildlife, plants, area history, and explain some of our guiding decisions. Guides train yearly in sea kayaking skills, leadership and rescue scenarios, and First aid/CPR. We log and critique each tour and welcome participant input.
